        Potential spoilers (but not many).

Saw it at 4:45 pm EST in a theater with only 15 people.

Best of the 3 new films, still not as good as any of the original trilogy. Still poor dialogue and stiff acting. Could (and should) have been much better.

Not bad if expectations weren't too high. Some good lightsaber fights. The duel between Obi-Wan & Anakin was quite good. Visually jaw-droppingly awesome. Imagery goes a long way with me, and this is pure escapist sf excellence. Some battle scenes just left me dumbfounded at how amazing it looked. Truly staggeringly beautiful.

Ian McDiarmid (Palpatine) steals it, IMO. His scene with Anakin at the bubble ballet (you'll know what I mean when you see it) is neat. Best acting of the new trilogy. Ewan and Samuel are good, too (though I still expect more from them.) Hayden still a poor choice.

Nice linkage between this & A New Hope.

Jimmy Smits got hisself a kewl kar.

Too many Jedis go out like punks.

Did I mention how gorgeous everything looks? I'll say it again: probably the most visually arresting film I've ever seen.

Emperor looks like a cross between Uncle Fester and the new Pope.

Natalie Portman is still hot. So is the Twillek Jedi.

I wonder if the Jedi code of ethics allows dispatching a mortally wounded opponent, putting them out of their misery? Guess not.

"Noooooooo!" (s******) (Reminds me of Calculon from Futurama.)

Even the younglings ain't safe - nice touch.

Y'think Lucas is trying to make a political point? A lame political point?

In the end, you'll like it better if your expectations aren't high. I'll see it again, if only to again experience big-screen eye candy.

Well it IS 'Star Wars'. After all this is the movie franchise where the famous line from Harrison Ford comes from ("You can write this ****, George, but you can't say it").

That ain't why we are there .

I'm still upset with Lucas for taking Han's line, "You could use a good kiss!" out of the ESB dvd. That was a good line.

Lucas deserves to have his scrotum devoured by army ants for changing it so Greedo shoots first. Lousy revisionist douchebag.

I know, Imran. Don't misunderstand me - I know the acting in the original trilogy ain't exactly Tracy & Hepburn, but the leads all lacked the stiffness that seems prevalent in the new trilogy. Hamill, Ford & Fisher all seemed like they were trying (the Brits were great, as usual). Here I'm just not getting that feeling. Some of it is plain bad casting (Hayden Christiansen, I'm looking at you), but even in excellent actors like Portman can't seem to get the hang of their character, and I'm going to blame poor dialogue and direction.

This is largely subjective, however (except in Hayden's case). Some people think Portman, MacGregor, et al, did fine. I just expected more of them, I suppose.

But, thankfully, imagery goes a long way with me (I'm a visual kinda guy), and this film was gorgeous, and presented fantastic visions that left me agape with delight. That makes up for a host of disappointments, in my book.

I never understood why people get so upset over it. WHO CARES?! And as for being revisionist... so? Since he created it out of his brain in the first place, I think he can revise as wanted .

Hell, I'm happy that I get to watch Star Wars whenever I want in my own house on DVD. Some people act like its their right and Lucas is horrible for changing a movie that he created. Frankly I think those people need to reexamine their lives so they can pinpoint when it all went wrong.

Hamill, Ford & Fisher all seemed like they were trying (the Brits were great, as usual).

And the Brits all thought the entire movie was a joke and was going to flop. They didn't take it seriously in the slightest... amusingly you think they were the best .
