  • chronic router problem

We have a wireless network, and at least once every few days that network goes down inexplicably. One moment the internet is fine, the next the router has disappeared (to the computer). It simply can't detect the network. The only solution is to turn off every computer and then reboot (you have to have a period in which NO computer is on) - actually, we just unplug the wireless receivers and then plug them back in, which works just as well. However, it's driving me crazy and has been occuring more and more frequently. WTF is the problem?

Gee, and I thought that objects vanish in your appartment.

Btw, nothing helpful that I can say - cept saying that I trust cables much more.

It's not cool to wire cables across two stories

Plus they've recently allowed the servants to have internet access in their quarters, and they wanted to connect the stables via VoIP...

you think it's easy ordering the maids to go and shut down the computers at various points around the castle?

godamn heartless savage. Luckily, kuci's going to make boatloads of money more than you, when he grows up, so he doesn't have to listen to this crap!

Seriously, kuci, Go wires. wires have never failed me, ( well, 'cept this problem I am having setting up network now. )

Check the router's temperature. Some brands can't handle too much traffic and overheat causing them to malfunction.

Would it overheat when only one computer is using the router?

Yes it can. AFAIK, it's a structural design problem with some routers.

How do I make it not overheat? (besides not using it as much)

Just go buy a better one and ...never mind.
We're sorry, the voices in my head are not available at this time. Please try back again soon.

Yeah, just buy a new one. I had similar problems with one and replacing it solved it.
