Unlike Civ3, Civ4 hasn't had the problem of a major change in design team midstream. So things are looking up.

Quite possibly, my lay-up is terrible.

that doesn't help[ when the design team is the same who developed civ3 which many people said sucked.

I liked civ3, but I find myself bored of it. I quickly grew bored of civ3 after each expansion. I never seem to play anymore. SMAC is my TBS of choice now.

Actually, if you'd read the history of the game design, Civ3's problems stemmed precisely from the change up in design team. The new team was hamstrung by what had gone on before, as well as a lot of political bull**** working for Infogrames . Neither are problems now.

Wow... just saw the Civ4 confirmed stuff. Sounds great . Now if they can just tone down the uber-expansionist AI, it'd be perfect.

Glad it is super moddable though .

I'm taking a watch and see approach.

In the meantime I can occupy myself with Galactic Overlord. While some have vocally disagreed with the statement, the game really is yarr and woo. But you would have to play to see.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

Any of you guys ever play Gary Grigsbys World War...or something like that? I saw it in the store the other day for 39.95. Almost got it...

Looks like they're trying to contain it this time around through maintenance costs. Having too many cities will render one's economy inoperable due to the expense. As monetary advancements oocur, expansion can continue at a small pace.

Sounds decent... but I hope the AI realizes this and doesn't just build unprofitable cities all over the place without caring what happens to the economy (as it seemed they did in Civ3).
