You know though... if he shows up to Cardiff for the FA Cup Final, I fear for his life by some crazed ManU fan.

Oh, and how does your favorite side run?

What is your favorite side? I'm sure if you came to the Soccer thread, we could discuss Ligue 1

What can I say.. that takes cojones.. I mean.. I would never try to mess with ANY Euro soccer team like that. I'd get killed. Some of the fans are pretty.. extreme.

                    And it gets worse...

UEFA is attempting at coming up with rules that require clubs to qualify for CL and UEFA Cup it must be financially viable (it doesn't want economic basketcases). ManU, under the proposed financial viability rules, would NOT qualify. There is a chance that ManU would not be able to participate in Europe with a $1 billion debt!

These proposed rules come into effect starting in the 2007-08 season and ManU will still likely have a huge debt. Without CL money, it'll be that much harder to reduce the debt.

Well, if I was interested in football, I'd come to the threads (I'm mildly interested in competitions featuring the national teams, and completely uninterested in ordinary football - I have a soft spot for Guingamp though )

Why are we listening to the Manure fans complaining? They were quite willing to enjoy the benefits of being swamped with money in the last 13 years or so. It is no accident that Manchester United''s rise to the top of the English game coincided with the vast injection of capital into the game with the formation of the Premier League.

They've lapped it up like fat pigs and helped contribute to the ruin of second and third division (or whatever they are called now) football in England. Man United fans complaining about money ruining the sport should be pilloried as hypocrites.

I'd love it if Glazer bankrupted them and they fell down the leagues. I bet almost none of their "fans" would follow them.

I hope Glazier loses everything on this deal. Merchandising does not work if there are no fans, so we will have to wait and see what the foreign fans think of the takeover...

Man U fans have been burning effigies of Glazier, and ripping up their season passes.

"some thing this man dosen't seem to understand is that a football club is its fans, so we'll take our club somewhere else and start again" - a ManU football fan on bbc news yesterday.

From the Glazier PR "Both Malcolm and his son have long been huge fans of Manchester United, and wish to assure fans that they will do great things for the club".

The latest rumors is that Sir Alex may be gone after the FA Cup because he strongly objected to Glazier's control. He feels the debt will prevent him from working on the transfer market. If he's gone... for ManU fans.
