      I'd say one of the tougher jobs is reading Pekka's posts.
      Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

        fighter != sotilas = soldier
        fighter = taistelija

        Judo, nyrkkeily, paini; kaikki ovat taistelulajeja.

          I'd go with factory work and/or other menial jobs. You barely make enough to live on, have no hope for the future, no self respect and no respect from others, and slowly have your soul crushed each and every time you go to work.

          That, compared to a chance of death? Pah!
          I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

                VJ, nope. Well at least not in my definition.

                I'm not talkinga bout fighter as in taistelija!11

                I'm talking about fighter as in OTTELIJA.

                So it needs to have pro events, it needs to have contact, etc etc etc. Judokas CAN be fighters. Judoka is not automatically a fighter, but martial artist. A boxer is not a fighter by default but a boxer. A boxer who is just technical might be just a boxer. To be a fighter you need to be a fighter. There are differencies. You're not going into a match, you're going to a fight. Big difference.

                And if you want to use the word taistelija, **** wrestling is not taistelulaji, nyrkkeily is not taistelulaji... etc etc.

                  We did already, I think it was Diss who came up with it, sounds like a Diss thread anyway.

                  IIRC the result was that we decided that being a fluffer was a not so great a job.

                          Landscaping was the worst job I ever had (17 years old).

                          3 16 hour days in a row shovelling dirt and my back was killing me (I've done a lot more manual labour in my day than most people my age, but that was ridiculous). Quit and got an easier job that paid more within a week.

                          Wasn't that much easier though.

                          We were loading containers by hand with consumer goods for Inuit villages in Northern Quebec. The temperature in the containers (doors closed, sitting in the sun for months on end in the dead of summer) reached 130F on the worst day.

                              There's a lot of hard jobs. Teaching for me was the worst, and I've done landscaping and stuff like that in 110 degree weather. But then I had a different situation from Da Shi I think.

                                Worst (and toughest) job I ever had was working at a factory that cleaned and repainted those big steel oil/chemical drums. In the peak of summer heat, you have to wear jeans, hat, sweatshirt, lead apron, boots, safety goggles and gloves. Each drum weighed about 75 pounds empty. So you slog these things around - first on to a conveyer so that they can go into the cleaning line, then through the line, hauling crap over other moving conveyer belts, out into the yard afterward and finally onto a truck (no forklift). While in the factory, it's even hotter and there's some nice chemicals flying around from the cleaning process. I lasted exactly one day, and while I was there, one of the full-timers got some of the cleaning product sprayed into his eyes and had to be taken to the hospital. Called in the next day and told them I wouldn't be coming in anymore.
