It was a week overdue, but at 5.30 yesterday morning little Ellen Shona made it into the world. She weighs in at 6 pounds 15 ounces, and is doing fine.
Mrs Gimp had a rough ride- it was a 27 hour labour and she ended up needing a pretty hefty blood transfusion. Thankfully she's now recovering well- while she's still in hospital, her blood pressure is back to normal and she managed to get out of bed yesterday evening.
I'm now delighted (even though I was a hopeless, stressed-out wreck yesterday). The one minor disappointment was that if it had been a boy, I had a lame in-joke lined up. The name we'd selected for a boy child was "Finn".
