I find it pointless to ripp the CD's I already have.

All the music on my computer is music that I do not have on CD's or music that I only have on cassette tapes.

my music file is 7.67 GB. This doesn't include recently downloaded music that I haven't scanned yet (ie: listen to to make sure the song isn't ****ed up).

And most of it is at 128 bit. some of them are even lower. and some are at 192.

I stated it before, but I prefer not having to carry my CD/cassette collection (small as it comparatively may be) if I can carry every bit of music I have in a single pocket or two, depending on the type of internal or external memory my player uses. I've had a Rio300 (they were supposed to offer expandable memory...which never materialized and my player died), Iomega HipZip (tiny floppy disc like things...which are no longer made and my player died), RCA Lyra 64 (uses the postage stamp-sized SD cards...and my player still works just fine ), and my Zen Micro 5Gb (built-in memory, though probably hackable like those old Archos players, one of the earliest multi-gigabyte players sold). CDs are fine to have as they are hard copies that won't degrade for a long time if rarely used.

I should mention that I do not own an mp3 player. The only time I listen to music is when I'm driving my vehicle, or when I'm at home.

And that probably works just fine for you. There's no rule youe MUST have an mp3 player. However, if you find yourself in situations where a walkman of any sort is desired, like when working out, then having an mp3 player makes the most sense. You can potentially store every piece of music you have on it if you so choose. Additionally, some offer other functions which you might find suitable to your daily routine.

The only real music i have on my pc is a collection of all the stuff from EU2+Medieval games that i've put in a compilation folder to run from winamp whenever i feel like it, i think its about a few gigs worth.

I've never really moved into the MP3 revolution in terms of regular CD type music, i still listen to audio cassette sometimes too.
At least i dont just have a grammarphone, so i'm semi modern

                In MP3s and videos...13.4GB

However my HD is pretty big (120GB) so I have no chance of filling it, although I suspect Microsoft's next operating system and it's bloatiness would probably be able to assist in this

I have a 120 GB HD right now, 100 GB saved for data...

I should be able to clear some space with the TV seasons ending this month

You could get another HD...I've seen some 300GB ones which aren't too expensive!

Yea, I've seen some of the Maxtors with 250 GB selling for 130 euros or 300 GB selling for 165 euros, but it would really be the easy way out... since I actually should sort everything and burn it onto DVDs

27GB of mostly WMA and a few MP3.

That reminds me, I have about 30 more cds I need to transfer, but my slave drive is running out of room

Hmmm, burning onto DVD - not a bad idea - how much does a DVD burner cost nowadays?

                            7.96 GB mp3s
Most of them are 128 kbps, I don't care that much for audio-quality
About 1 GB of them are unchecked though
This space is empty... or is it?

They're quite cheap these days. Over here, NECs sell for around 50 euros, and these are top notch devices (+/- compatibility, 16x DVD writing speed, double layer capability, 48x CD writing speed etc.).

DVDs cost around one euro a piece for high quality Verbatims.
