One or two PMs, One or two presidents, I think.

            EDIT: editted to thwart smartasses.

Surely it was more than that, Az? After all, there've been many Labour (Mapai wasn't it called back then?) PM's, and as socialists, one would think they'd be atheists too? Same with many Likudnikim/Herut/etc, no? Or is it a "I believe in God but I'm secular/traditionalist" thing?
"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."--General Sir Charles James Napier

I don't think DBG was an atheist, nor Eshkol nor Golda. I think that Sharett and Rabin were. Peres? I don't know really.

No Prime-ministers were religious, and only two presidents were. ( I don't mean ultra-orthodox, but openly-believing. ) But no one cares about presidents.

Lincoln was accused of being an atheist because he did not attend church, but I think he was probably more akin to the founding fathers in his beliefs.

What's sad is to see the attitudes of people towards potential atheists as candidates. Many people openly say they would never vote for an atheist, no matter how well qualified. It's one of the acceptable forms of discrimination. Hell, Bush Sr. said he "didn't know" if atheists should be considered patriots or true citizens.

I don't vote for people unless they're atheists.
