It does sound nasty.
Hey, do you think the mods let these spam threads run a bit to see how far over the edge we'll lean before pushing us?Long time member @ Apolyton

They drilled out the tooth, right? Then packed it with something? That something is supposed to kill everything. If it didn't then you have a problem. Pain early on is kinda normal though.Long time member @ Apolyton

it only started "hurting" a bit today (yesterday night i stayed on late biting it , sort of a test- you know: every man has got to know his limitations) i'm sure it's not the tooth. it is early. it is only 5 days since the work was completed (the crown was placed)

Actually what they do is; drill a hole in your tooth, take a set of files and scrape out the nerve... once the nerve is gone you don't feel anything. However, after they do this they shave down your tooth into a stump that will be used to place a crown on. The crown is pretty much a fake tooth and can be made of gold or porclein (sp?). They put the crown over the stump of a tooth and pull the gums back around the base of the fake tooth/crown... There may be pain due to the swelling of the gums and as your mouth gets comfortable with the crown... taking an anti-inflamatory such as advil will help the pain. The pain rarely lasts more than a couple of days, and should be gone within a week. The discomfort that may occur due to the crown however may last for a couple of weeks. By discomfort I mean aqwardness of the new crown.
