    Well they are and they aren't. Granted your typical prescription to bring home is not covered by medicare but if you happen to be hospitalized, the very same drugs may be given without charge. Inconsistent isn't it?

        It is, and I would be fine with seeing taxes go up a couple of percentage points to cover prescriptions, but that's just me...
