This is what you've been reduced to. I suppose it was inevitable.

How are you watching it right now? It's still in the theaters?

I know, I'm just trying to make him say it. I thought the quality on these things was really low, however, since it's basically a videotaped movie.

I know three good stores for pirated Chinese DVDs. The quality is excellent (the better stuff is just a bit-for-bit copy of the official releases).

? he could be watching it legally:

                    1. it's in us theatres now, in chicago, for instance. real ones, too, not arthouse ones.
                    2. legal dvd copies were released in february, coded for region 3.

...and just because Columbia is behind it, doesn't make it American.

It's a Hong Kong film mostly financed by Columbia, which is owned by Sony, which is headquartered in Japan.

So would you call it a Japanese movie, even though virtually all of the cast and crew were Chinese? Hong Kong Chinese, no less?

...And Vesayen, if you don't like rooting for the Chinese, I have one question to ask you:

...Why the **** are you watching a movie where all the characters--both the protagonists and antagonists--are Chinese, then?

I would call it a US film, because it was pretty much made like a Hollywood one. It was written and directed by Stephen Chow, a famous (some would say infamous) Hong Kong comedy actor.

He also wrote and directed Shaolin Soccerl, a film supposed to be funny.

It is not a Chinese movie because Chinese movies are made in China (the PRC). It is a Hong Kong movie, and we are not subjected to any censorship.

And Hong Kong is in which country? And the film is in which language? And the actors are which nationality?

When are Americans going to come to terms with their Sinophobic racism.

Ever since the end of the Cold War, Americans have been looking for someone to be "the evil enemy" and the poor old Chinese, who want little more than to sell you widgets are the best you can find.

Hence the endless and unprovoked China bashing. What is it with Americans? Do they need to have enemies to make them feel good about themselves or are they just racist?
