Rise of Rome is great. Haven't played the Persians yet though...
This was my first time playing them in about eight games of the scenario (Rome is just so addictive). Persia was surprisingly fun, especially the amphibious landing I made between Athens and Thebes.
"especially the amphibious landing I made between Athens and Thebes" Go in and win!... I think we can say that now MarkG is off in the army.
I've tried Greece and man, that's tough!
Btw, did you know on the very first turn you can get every other civ that you've met, that you're not at war with , to declare war on the guys you're at war with? First turn only. You can also get all their $, workers and dyes from the Persians. Hell of a glitch.
Actually I think you can;t get everything from the Romans on second thought.

You can also get cities in exchange for alliances, but that would be an exploit.
You might enjoy this thread from the strat forum on the scenario.
I'm going to try Macedon next, and see how a hoplite army holds up from the start. Whether playing as Rome or Persia, though, I find the way the Greek core crumbles once you land at Athens/Thebes just too satisfying to give up, though. Hmm, maybe a holding action against Persia and all-out landing in Italy to cripple Rome at the start is called for...
The Rising Sun scn is excellent also. It's not just Japan but the entire world, with 3 different starting dates. I like playing the Byzantines, Romans or Japanese.
What I do is download them to my desktop and then unzip them into Civ3 and then conquests, but then also in the conquests folder withing conquests iirc. (If that makes any sense)
