So, tell me again Pekka that European opposition to the war had something to do with WMD's? It seems the left, represented by the rotund Michael Moore, know it was all about OIL. They KNOW IT. (As many people KNOW there is a God.)

Ned, it was ALSO because of the WMD issue. One doesn't knock off the other. Besides, European right was also mostly against the war, using the terms left and right. Michael Moore might lead a group in the US, but he leads no one in here.

So.. this thread.. you want to call this proof to back your stance? It doesn't work like that.

Spiffor says the Onion article is accurate. That is why I said what I said.

Clearly the America left was against the Iraq war because they were sure that Iraq was about the OIL and had nothing to do with WMDs or American security. That is why Michael Moore was feted at the Demoncrat convention.

Ah ok. So you believe a commie now? A FRENCH commie at that..

Yes yes. I believe you when you say that the left in the US was mostly against the war because of the idea of oil grabbings and that michael moore was a figure of some caliber.

And again, I'm not saying the WMD issue is the ONLY issue in here. It was certainly a big issue. But, at the end, everyone who cries about oil, they are just doing their thing, while the ones who debate and argue that since there was no WMDs, etc etc, they have a legit argument that is good and based on real life, where as 'they jiust want the oil' is based on feelings and guesses, but it's not a fact. They just think it's a fact. But it's not a proven fact, nothing but high emotions.

Then there's the big group of combinations, who say yeah there was no WMD so now you want to steal the oil, yes? that's a different, hybrid type of group.

What I'm saying is, WMD issue plays a huge part, the biggest one for legit arguments, which from what I have seen and heard are the majority. But then again, I skip all the oil arguments without listening/reading, because it's 89% activist debate.

yes, 65 % of the europeans were/are against the war. they are all stupid. but winston knows all... because winston is on the right and has the moral high ground. he also is undoubtedly a good christian, supporting dropping bombs on peoples heads... but winston is an honourable man.

It wasn't the topic of oil that I commented.

It was the topic that Americans probably have to talk politics waaay too often with American chicks, and that a few of them probably even try to pass as Canadians (I remember having read in this very forum an advice given to an American going on vacation: put a Canadian flag on your backpack! )

Why would Americans have to talk politics that often with American chicks?

Heh, I think dannubis may have overinterpreted my post just a little there.

My point was that most Europeans form their opinion of American society in a rather critiqueless way, based on what little they're fed here and there by the media and common folklore imagery/gossip talk.

I didn't say they were stupid because some of them oppose the war in Iraq. And I certainly don't see how my possible religious affiliation enters into it at all.
