HRH Crown Princess Mary

Today was a happy day here in Denmark, as it was announced that TRH's Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary, who were married in May of 2004, are expecting their firstborn child sometime in October.

Now, any pregnancy is always good news, but the first word of this one naturally carries a lot of extra significance and expectations to many people here. At first I didn't mean to make a thread on it, but then as I looked at the state television news site, I saw that they had a web stream of a 1 hour documentary on Crown Princess Mary, which was previously broadcast on TV, but which I hadn't seen because I don't have a TV.

Long story short, I just watched it and found it to be both interesting and quite entertaining as well. I thought it might also interest others here, maybe some of our Australian posters in particular. It's predominantly in English, just a little bit of Danish sneaking in here and there, not to worry. It's mostly Crown Princess Mary talking about her life and Australian background, and there are some beautiful sceneries from Tasmania and other parts of Australia.

If you go to DR net-TV, and click the greenish banner with the caption "Dokumentaren om kronprinsesse Mary", the documentary will play in the upper left box. You can maximize it to full screen by clicking "Fuld skærm (afslut med ESC)" at the very top of the page. It requires Windows Media Player and, as mentioned, runs for 1 hour.

Finally, a picture of the couple on a not so happy occasion, their visit to the tsunami-struck area of Khao Lak, Thailand last week. I certainly wouldn't have spotted that she was expecting and had just completed the first trimester.

Um Verto, they were in Thailand for an unofficial visit, among other things accompanying Danish tsunami survivors and families of people killed, to the beaches of death. I think their attire was entirely appropriate. I picked that picture because it is very recent and because it shows her uhm.. anatomical attributes.
