I don't think America has a monolopy on craziness. Lots of that all over the world. You just can't pick on one country.
I find America's wackiness very enertaining though. You can't take the world too seriously or you will go crazy.

another thing about US freaks is their evangelical zeal, they need to tell the world about it, even try and persuade everyone to join in. Why?

whereas say in Britain, which is chockers with eccentrics, the ideal is to go about your nuttiness privately without anyone bothering you or you anyone else. We're a bit like the Brits with our eccentrics - they can do whatever as long as they keep it to themselves.

I don't know. They have no decorum either. I've seen Americans have perfectly straight-faced conversations with near strangers about the difficulties they had their first time trying anal sex.

America has no shame. No shame at all.

Call me old fashioned, but that was the best virtue by far.

Well if you spent time amongst Americans anywhere other than sleazy gay bars you might have a different impression.

You'd never catch me at a gay bar.

And what is it with North American men. Are they all poofs or what? What's with this touchy crap?

I have never been anywhere where men touch each other as much as they do in North America. Keep your hands off you filthy perverts!!

still for me its the combination of life long brain washing(salute the flag - do all amercians have to do this?) combined with all the guns - which i find the most disturbing, oh and the fact you can elect a bunch of liars into the whitehouse(hold on we have Tony Blair here - so britain needs to hold its hand up for that one too).

The life long salute flag thing really does freak me, i consider myself a very patriotic brit - i'd die defending my country and queen and all that, but i never recieved state brainwashing to have to feel like that.
Is it maybe because america is made up of people from all over the world, so it was seen as being needed to bond you all together or something like that?
I still find it a bit odd though......

Other than that i find americans by and large fine people, no more crazy than many others for sure

Yeah. But they do it in a manly way.

Actually it doesn't bother me over much, but a friend was so freaked out about it that it was the first thing he warned me about when I arrived in Canada.

You know, the question shouldn't be, are Americans bonkers. The Question should be, Why are Americans bonkers.

What the hell kind of places do you frequent? I've gone to tons of bars and clubs all over Canada and the US, and I've never experienced or seen any men touching each other other than a handshake or pat on the back.

Touching here is definitely no no. Unless you are good friends. After hand shake, do not touch in any way. Personal space in here is extremely important. Like in Japan, don't push the other person to difficult position. Same in here. don't touch, don't come too close, you know when it's ok, if you are not sure, then it's not ok. Only if you are friends. But when you are friends, you can grab them how ever you wish.
