  • What would YOU write?

Am in the process of trying to beat the odds by writing and hopefully getting published a novel. Question: What type of fiction would you write if you were attempting to make such a move?

    Something you are good at.

        Other things:

You've had an amazing life experience

You have an amazing story that you HAVE to tell

          1. Have something you are dying to tell other people.
          2. Put it on paper (or rather, into the computer).
          3. Keep revising it.

There's also a nice trick that you can use. Publish the first chapter or two on your website. This way, you can gauge reactions. Doing so is very cheap yet can reach tons of people.

Write cheap erotic fiction, but break trends: write trans-genre: Star Trek and Harry Potter, for example. Your name will be ranked with Shakespeare, Dickens, and Coulter.

I'd just write my life's story and change my name to Don and my wife to Dora. Nobody will know a thing!

I'd write space operas that were light on the science, heavy on the characterization, extremely intricate, thick, and unavoidably depressing.

                  If I were to write.

                  That is.

                  Edit: ****, I'm tired.

Crap. I thought I was unique. Guess I'll have to find another hopeless career path.

If you happen to want to read a book like that (except for the bad writing part), I strongly recommend that you read his Gap novels. Great stuff, one of my all-time favorite sci-fi epics.
