If you want more western food, then Gotham Bar and Grill is close to Chelsea

How much are you looking to spend? Cause the variety is huge. Also, how far are you going from Chelsea? Is it ouot of the question to get on a subway?

You flatter me with your confidence but it's been 16 years since I last lived in New York City and I fear I'd never find my way around now.
Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. Thanks for suggestions pchang. I will check out the meat packing district.

I'm bringing my parents and some other older members of the family, so I don't think they will be wanting to take the subway and I need to minimize travel. I want to spend roughly $15 to $25 a plate, but with NY prices, I'm hoping that won't limit me to Denny's.

            Thanks for the link GePap.

Whoops - Gotham and Man Ray can be quite a bit more than $25/plate, but if you don't go wild and skip appetizers, you can get in at the $25 level. Ono is in the same league. Pastis can be a bit cheaper and may be your best bet considering your budget. All of those places are quite popular and packed, so you need to call now to get a reservation for 14.

You may be best off looking in a Zagat guide.

We ended up going to this little chinese place called Grand Sichuan at the corner of 9th ave and 24th st. The food was excellent and very flavorful.

Thanks for the all the help.
