It's the first time in two years, so yesterday I went to the driving range.
Now, what you need to know about me is that I'm a terrible golfer. I shoot about 120 on 18 holes. The worst problem I have is an enormous slice. I'm talking about a ball that often ends up going 90 degrees to the original direction of travel.
So yesterday I decided that I was just going to change things about my swing until it started working better. I changed my distance from the ball, how far forward on the ball I was, how flexed my knees were, etc.
All had some small impact on distance and direction. The big change happened when I straightened up my left arm (I shoot right handed) almost completely. The first shot I hit went perfectly straight. It was like a miracle to me. The next 10 balls I hit all went perfectly straight too. And I was plugging them 210-225 in the air. They might have run farther, but this driving range only went out to 225, so I was hitting the backstop, sometimes before hitting the ground.
I proceeded to hit another 2 buckets, and every club I hit with (driver, 3 wood, 3 iron, 7 iron) was the same thing. Whether the ball was teed up or on the "grass" I was ****ing killing them in a perfectly straight line down the range. I ****ed up maybe 5% of the shots.
I swear that if I can hit like this on the course I'm going to drop 20 strokes off my game and play under 100 for the first time in my life.
