Phoenix is an awesome city.
It's cheap, clean, and warm. The Arizona desert is the best desert, much more dynamic than our boring Cali deserts.
People there are also generally nice, except for those moron Minutemen in southern Arizona, patrolling the Mexican border.

I am living in Phoenix right now.
There are three temperatures here, warm, hot, and you gotta be freakin kidding. You have made peace with the evil Wheredehekowi tribe-we demand you tell us if they are a tribe that is playing this scenario.
We also agree not to crush you, if you teach us the tech of warp drive and mental telepathy and give 10 trinkets

Take water with you everywhere you go and sip on it. It is very easy to get dehydrated because of the heat and the dryness and dehydration can sneak up on you easily so beware.
Drivers are crazy out there. It is a densely populated city and the roads are laid out in an almost perfect grid. I think the grid layout of the streets can make you less vigilant because you can drive for hours and everything looks the same (strip mall after strip mall - lots of intersections). They use cameras at the intersections to catch moving violations so be careful... There is no mass transit in Phoenix.
Plenty of good hiking and mountain biking just outside the city. Tempe is a good place to hang out because it is a college town...
Thats all I can think of right now.

don't drink too much water:
New study reports that athletes who drink too much water are at risk of diluting sodium content of their blood, causing hyponatremia and putting them at risk for seizures, coma and death; research involved testing blood of 488 runners before and after 2002 Boston Marathon; found 13 percent of them drank so much that they had hyponatremia, or abnormally low blood sodium levels; three had levels so low they were in danger of dying; runners who developed problem tended to be slower, giving them time to drink copious amounts of liquid; risks to athletes from drinking too much liquid have worried doctors and race directors for several years; as more slow runners enter long races, doctors are seeing athletes nauseated, groggy, barely coherent, with their blood severely diluted; some have died on the spot; new study, published in The New England Journal of Medicine, offers first documentation of problem; photo; graphs (M))
It's amazing some people can't master the concept. When you are thirsty, drink water. Simple.

According to the article, you should drink after you urinate, whether or not you are thirsty..
