  • Help out my freind

She got her degree in environmental science a couple of years ago

and had only found jobs as a secretary since (she is like 24 or so)

she would like to be doing something better/more interesting

so what are some jobs that she could do?

    where should she be applying?

how should she go about looking for a job?

she is pretty down about the whole thing (thinks that she can't find anything but secretarial work)....

I am pretty sure she could find something better...

    Is she in the area?
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

      Environmental science?

      Professional tree hugging?

      Try Washington State.

          A couple of suggestions -

NGO work - that can lead to real jobs - there are plenty of environment NGO's.

Paradoxically, government work. You might not start in exactly what you want but its a stepping stone into interesting areas.

Working for politicians - pick one that has an interest in the environment. You might start as a receptionist but most pollies will let their staff branch out if they show talent.

If she gets a law degree she'll never be out of a job - law and environment is a powerful combo

Failing all of that, sleep around a lot.
Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..

Look, I just don't anymore, okay?

I think she did well in school, or at least she should have (she graduated when she was 20...)

                    went to University of Maryland

Does it really mean anything to get good marks in "environmental science"?
