I can remember the entire lyrics to the opening song for the Greatest American Hero.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

        Even the verses?

I mean, I can understand the chorus, that's supposed to be the catchy part of the tune, but the verses?

          It had verses?

I'm a product of 80s pop and fine American Prime Time TV. Bring on Night Rider!

I assume so. It was a top-40 "hit", you know. Had to have something besides

"Believe it or not, I'm walking on air.
I never thought I could feel so free.
High and away on a wing and a prayer,
            Who could it be?
Believe it or not, it's just me!"

You're not the only one who remembers. Mostly.

After seeing the lyrics, I remember it all. Oh, the horror!

Look at what's happened to me,
              I can't believe it myself.
Suddenly I'm up on top of the world,
              It should've been somebody else.

              Believe it or not,
              I'm walking on air.
I never thought I could feel so free-.
Flying away on a wing and a prayer.
              Who could it be?
Believe it or not it's just me.

It's like a light of a new day-,
It came from out of the blue.
Breaking me out of the spell I was in,
Making all of my wishes come true-.

              Believe it or not,
              I'm walking on air.
I never thought I could feel so free-.
Flying away on a wing and a prayer.
              Who could it be?
Believe it or not it's just me.

Btw, the song was written by Mike Post who also wrote the theme to Hill Street Blues, Law and Order, The Rockford Files (remember that one?), CHiPs, Magnum PI, The A-Team, and others.
