Rover is like some sort of strange undead beast. Every time it dies it gets up and starts walking around again but each time it things get a little dodgier and the rotten smell gets a little stronger.
The latest speculation is that the Chinese do like the idea of owning a European brand or two and they would like to get their hands on MG/Rover's dealer network but they don't want the billions in pension liability. The solution is to buy the assets (brand names, cars, and dealerships) during the recievership then they wouldn't owe the pensioners a dime and they wouldn't have to accept the current union contracts.
It sucks that the pensioners would be out but they're out anyway and maybe a few jobs could still be saved.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

The Rover 75 and the Rover 25 are to be built in China and sold under the Rover brand name. No word yet about the fate of MG nor of the older Rover 45. Supposedly the Chinese are approaching several suppliers who worked with Rover into setting up production lines in China for the Rover cars line.

The MG TF was a great car which got wonderful reviews and even the River 75 was pretty nice though over priced and now 6-7 years old. If I were to move to Europe I wouldn't mind picking up a second had 2004-2005 MG TF.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

Pictures of a rally held last weekend at Longbridge by MG & Rover enthusists who were urging the British government to save the former national automaker.
MG especially seems to have a strong following so there is hope someone will want to own that brand though Rover is dead as can be.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.
