It wasn't a thoughtful opinion. It was tripe based on ignorance. The parents are scumbags who've been using their personality-dead daughter to try and punish Schiavo for not giving them a cut of the malpractice money. These total slime balls just sold all the names, addresses, and emails of thei people who sent them letters of support to a marketting agency. You people are such suckers.

I don't know about that, but the Schindler family has spent the last 7 years waging a scorched earth battle against Michael Schiavo in which they didn't hesitate to use any scurrilous charge, no matter how low. He's had to endure them accusing him of being a liar, out only for money, a wife abuser, and a "murderer." I've no doubt he hates them quite fervently, as they hate him.

I 'm not sure I would let such people that I hated (and who had just needed to be restrained by police) be in the same room as I spent the last moments of my S.O.'s life at his bedside. I can't blame Schiavo for doing it that way.

Terri Schiavo relatives feud over burial

March 31, 2005 | Levittown, Pa. -- Terri Schiavo's ashes will be buried in an undisclosed location near Philadelphia so that her immediate family doesn't show up and turn the burial into a media spectacle, a member of the Schiavo family said Thursday.

"If Mike knew they would come in peace, he would have no problem with it," Scott Schiavo, Michael Schiavo's brother, said during an interview at his home.

After an autopsy, Michael Schiavo plans to have his wife's body cremated and her ashes brought to Pennsylvania, where she grew up. Scott Schiavo said the ashes would be buried in a plot left by an aunt and uncle, but the family does not plan on providing the specific location for the burial.

Her parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, had fought for years to prevent her feeding tube from being removed, and they opposed cremation and wanted her buried in Florida.

A spiritual adviser to Terri Schiavo's parents, Paul O'Donnell, said they plan to hold a Roman Catholic Mass without her body sometime next week. Asked about perhaps never knowing where his sister might be buried, Bobby Schindler said, "We've already said goodbye. ... He's been doing this kind of stuff for 15 years. What would make him stop now?"

As he monitored TV news reports from the kitchen of his small house in the Philadelphia suburbs, Scott Schiavo received a stream of calls Thursday from people denouncing him and his brother. On his answering machine was a lengthy message from a man from Texas who, shouting obscenities, called the Schiavo family murderers.

"This isn't over by a long shot. We're going to get our name right," he said. "The world is going to know who Mike was, they're going to know Mike wasn't a beast. ... We're going to clear his name, and point it right back at the Schindlers, to let people know just who Bob Schindler is, what type of person he is."

Police made visits Thursday to both Scott Schiavo's home and the home of his brother, William, in Philadelphia, as a result of threats to the families.

At Terri Schiavo's alma mater, Archbishop Wood High School in Warminster, workers changed a sign that read "Terri Schiavo, Class of 1981, We pray that you may live" to "We pray that you rest in peace."

it's not an undisclosed location. She is being buried in the Schiavo family plot.

edit: I see the article later on states this. My point is the burial site probably could be found with some searching. Unlike Genghis Khan for example. Now that's and undisclosed burial site.

Just one thing I wonder about, how sure can we be that she didn't experience pain during this? For a conscious person, obviously, being starved to death would be very unpleasant. And since people in a PVS don't recover, how do we know they don't feel pain if starved?

The receptors for pain are still there, but the ability to process that neurochemical stimulus into what we recognize as pain is not.

The autopsy results should be interesting, because they'll once and for all prove (not that some people would believe anything anyway) the degree of damage to her cortex.

I think it's interesting that given the old pre-injury photos, video, etc. of who she was, vs. the post injury stuff, how people really qualify that "life" (i.e. cellular life, with the self awareness of a lobster) as worth holding on to and forcibly sustaining. It would be interesting if someone could have presented the last 15 years of her existence to the living, thinking, functioning version of her, and asked "do you want to be sustained through decades of this?"

I wonder while all the right-to-life handwringers have been wailing and gnashing teeth over Terri Schiavo, how many third world kids died of starvation and vaccinatable and preventable diseases due to insufficient funding for food aid and basic medical aid programs. But she was white and American, so brain function or no, she was worth thousands of little brown and black and yellow kids.

I think the human race has a big problem if we ALL can't agree that michael schiavo's actions with regards to the parents and family are anything less than evil and sadistic.

she was kind of pudgy in hich school. She lost 50 pounds!!!

supposedly Michael told her if she got fat like that again, he'd divorce her. I'm not sure I can believe that. But it's possible he said that.
