Well, no actually, you don't have to. You can put the Micro in a Removable Drive mode and it'll act like any other USB thumbdrive. You can transfer files to it manually. Thing is that the capacity will be reduced. After I updated mine (a 5gb), the maximum capacity allowed in that mode was 4gb (to as low as 128mb or 256mb I think). Otherwise, if you use the included software you can utilize the full capacity of your player.The cake is NOT a lie. It's so delicious and moist.
