A new TV series by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has sparked a national debate in Britain about the poor quality of food served to the country's school children. Parents and teachers, outraged by the appallingly low nutritional value of school meals, are answering the challenge. Now, it appears, Prime Minister Tony Blair may too.
The show started to air tonight on swedish TV, and I was hooked from the start. A while back I was quite fed up with Jamie and his cooking shows. But he redeemed himself with the show in which he trained up ****ed up kids to be star chefs. That gave me a belief that he actually cared for these kids and what happened to them. This was by no means just a publicity stunt. The new show actually takes Jamies social conscience a step further, directly attacking the UK government and putting the searchlight on the vile crap that passes for school lunch in british schools.
I must give Jamie Oliver a big for this, for making a difference and making great TV at the same time
Jamies campaign for better food in public schools has it´s own webpage. http://www.feedmebetter.com/
