Question: at what point is it pedophilia? If you're looking at pics of 10 year old girls, that's icky. At, say, 16 years old, they're still minors, still technically children, yet there are some smoking hot 16 year old girls out there, and prurient interest in them is markedly diferent than interest in a prepubescent girl.
So, legally, I suppose pictures of anybody under 18 can be considered child porn, but there is a real difference in the appearance of a true child (10 yo) versus a young woman (16 or 17 yo). The first indicates interest in children, the second in (young) women.
And I know the issue at hand involves boys, but my point still stands. Although both are legally pedophilia, one is very different from the other.

I'm not equating being gay to being a pedophile, I'm pointing out their hypocrisy in taking a "moral highground" in banning gays while allowing a pedophile to be a high-ranked leader.
How is it hypocritical if you place said leader on leave pending resolution of the charges and presumably would fire him if he is guilty?
I think a ban on gay leaders is crap but no organization can ever "totally" protect themselves. You can do background checks, interviews whatever but I don't think folks will just pipe up and say " by the way, I get my jollies from looking at children"

It's interesting because if you have sex with a minor, it's only considered paedophilia if the child is under 14 years old (this can vary state to state country to country). Vs having sex with someone over 14 and under 18 is just statuatory rape.

I don't really see them as a hate group. I don't like their policies but I recognize they have a right to freely associate or not associate as they please. Of course the government doesn't have to subsidize them by allowing them to use government property (schools, parks, etc...) and here in San Diego we have done just that. Starting around WW1 the city created "The Boy Scout Camp" in Balboa Park (the city's 1200 acres central park) and I must say the facilties are top notch and completely done in a classic pre-WW1 Spanish revivalist style.. The city has an orginance which forbides discriminating against people due to sexuality so the boy scouts no longer get free use of those facilities.
I do think that both sides are being stupid. Like an 8 year old boy really has any idea of sex or sexuality.

What's funny is that the Scouts is possibly the biggest shirtlifter recruiting agency in the world. I know plenty of gay guys who lost their virginity at Scouts. Like many of the things that that sprung from the era of muscular Christianity, the Scouts is deeply and subliminably homosexual.
