Then how come we never heard from them before today, Ned? It's not like this case hasn't been big news in Florida for the last three years?
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

What a very Republican way of thinking?

It is just so funny to watch the pro-death penalty red staters squarm over their claims that no one can be put to death or choice death.
I think there are some people who never believe in the right to die. But that is the minority. Most of the people are concerned that there was no living will. That we are just relying on hearsay about her wishes. That the burden of proof should be on those advocating plug pulling. Not coin tossing.

And the parents have no ulterior motives? They've been trying to get their hands on the lawsuit money since Schiavo won.

Maybe you never heard them before? Maybe the process did not look into this? Maybe things surface some times? Or maybe they are lying? But just cause you didn't hear it before, don't mean squat. Commie.

the burden of proof should be on nobody because the husband is next of kin and he makes the decisions... I know you want to control everyone's life, but you just can't. Deal with it.
To us, it is the BEAST.

Let's take it away from both of them. And take away John Edwards's ambulance chasing moolah too. Little Silky Pony scum.

That is when Michael and Scott Schiavo and their sister in-law Joan Schiavo testified that Ms. Schiavo had told them never to prolong her life artificially.

Scott Schiavo testified that after his grandmother was on life support at the end of her life, Ms. Schiavo had told him: "If I ever go like that, just let me go. Don't leave me there."

Judge George Greer of Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Court found the testimony constituted "clear and convincing" evidence of Ms. Schiavo's wishes, and her feeding tube was removed in April 2001. It was reconnected days later, after a former girlfriend of Mr. Schiavo called a radio station to say he had told her he had no idea whether his wife would have wanted life-prolonging measures."

"That led to new testimony, but it did not change Judge Greer's mind, partly because the girlfriend recanted."

The three withness who testified were all Schiavo family members. Their testimony was contradicted by a girlfriend who later recanted. However, there are other witnesses who were present when Schiavo made the statement to the former girlfriend who support the original statement of the girlfriend.
Personally remarks by Terri in casual conversation one way OR ANOTHER should not be acted upon in terms of plug-pulling. We are getting way too frisky and eager to pull that stuff. I dated an ICU nurse and she was all over plug pulling. Lacking a living will, leave it in. This Medical Power of Attorney (in essense a living will in that you give power to make this decision to someone else...I just would want to know that Terri understood that she was giving this up...that it was not just some paragraph in a big long POA) might be sufficient reason to pull it. I just don't know the factual details on that.

Yeah, but they didn't testify in 1998, so why should we believe them now?

I was going to say I'm not a MoFo, but then I remembered, yes I am. I Fo'd three Mos.

Other half argued to let her live because of enjoying companionship. NOONE asked what her wishes were. It was like...sorry...you're 88...you got more than the average already anyhow.
I'm telling you, I was persona non grata for even raising the question. It was like...heck, you're just the grandson, we're the children. You should support us. And I didn't even get into an argument like y'all here. I just floated a trial balloon.

I am in favor of the individual. The individual is the one who is facing death or incapacitation. All other parties (husband, parents, etc.) are NOT the individual. Husbands do not have the power of life or death over their wives. They don't own them.

It needs to be Terri's choice. And if she did not have a living will, then we need to opt for life since it is not irrevocable. I have no problem with her choosing suicide or opting for plug pulling. I had a grandpa who never went to the doctor after being diagnosed with lung cancer. It's a free country. I would not have been happy forcing him to take medical attention (although I wish he had).
