  • looking for book, help google masters

It's a book written a few decades ago. Adventure. About a man who tries to kill a dictator (implicity Hitler, but not specified). Book starts with the man having been caught and hung from his fingers on a cliff and then falling. He escapes (hides from agents in England). There is a gruesome part with a cat being stuffed into his hidey holes ventilation shaft. Then he invents a cross bow and kills the man.

The cake is NOT a lie. It's so delicious and moist.

Google be buggered. I've read it and the plot's unmistakeable.

I've never seen the movie, but my Dad had and liked the movie ending better. It has the guy getting on an airplane with a rifle...

Never seen the movie. The book's a cracker, though. Talk about "101 uses for a dead cat"....

Do you like British adventure novels? I read a much slower paced one, but very enjoyable called THE RIDDLE OF THE SANDS, while I was laid up with my knee. I'm also into Josephine Tey. And Lewis and Rowling.

"The riddle of the sands" is another good one, but I think a lot of those early British ones haven't aged well. I'm more into the 60's and 70's thrillers, particularly Desmond Bagley.

"The Enemy" or "Running blind" are my favourites.
