  • Questions for Poly Republicans

The vast majority of you are what the media would define as "moderate" Republicans. Meaning, you are not members of the Religious Right that appears to have taken control of the GOP, and appears to be ever stronger, with RR-driven issues such as Schiavo, Intelligent Design, and homosexuality dominating the headlines.

So, I just want to ask...

...to what extent do you feel that the RR controls the GOP?

...does the RR dominate only on the news, while old-school GOPers hold the true power?

...is this simply a regional phenomenon?

...are you concerned that the RR will eventually take true control of the party?

...what will be the ultimate consequences of RR control, both for you as a moderate and for the party as a whole?

...what will be the consequences for the nation?

...what must be done to diminish the influence of the RR?

...should the RR's influence be diminished?

...is the rise of the RR simply reflective of changing societal views?

    ...any other thoughts or insights?

To what extent are you deluding yourselves?
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

          Well, yes.

But "Religious Right" is what I was going for.

Most of the social conservatives would actually side with the Democrats on the economy if it wasn't for the Republicans' hate-mongering. Hell, most of them WERE Democrats untill Nixon.

Jesus, people. Please, I am trying to be serious for one minute.

I know, it is rather unusual for Poly in general, and me in particular. But I genuinely want our resident Repubs to give their full, unadulterated, unabridged opinion on the Religious Right and how they are affecting their party.

Well, as noted earlier, the RR of Apolyton seem to laregly be MIA, so this thread has to be bumped somehow...

Spiffor, I am sure the RR holds similar opinions of the rabid secularlists.
