  • It is awesome down there, agreed. You can take dive ships to reef diving not that far off shore.

      • I also like the constant sunshine, the clean and warm ocean, the friendlier atmosphere, the fact that I live maybe a mile and a half from the ocean, citrus and coconut trees being ubiquitous, and access to stone crab claws. Oh, and that my wife can get good jobs easily. She's working at Sak's Fifth Avenue now, making better money than she was at Bloomingdale's, and she works less hours and has a much shorter commute. Heck, I can bike over there and have lunch with her, or I could if my bike wasn't in the shop. I should get it back this afternoon.

I miss good BBQ, nature, Southern accents, and the navy sub chasers flying overhead. Most of all I miss all my friends.

In Chalreston the flight path for the C-17 to Charleston AFB was right over the Citadel. I can't tell you how many classes, events, and especially sleep was interupted by that them.

Needless to say I don't miss them

Yep. Ate at a resteraunt with a balcony overlooking the river and went to the submarine museum, as well as all the cutsey litle gift shops back in '96. Was at Fort Clinch in Fernindina Beach in Florida a couple years back and watched a boomer cruise out to sea. I had no idea how huge those things were.

As for St. Mary's, after we went, I kinda wondered why we spent two hours driving for such a small place. I had wanted to go to Fernandina Beach instead (an hour closer), but the old farts were calling the shots. Theben and I just tagged along. Having been to both, I say FB is defiantely more interesting, plus it has a shrimp fleet, so mondo amounts of cheap shrimp.

                  • yeah King's Bay has nothing. A lot of the JOs live in Jax since KB is so rural.

                    • It's definately not a place to go for a night on the town. Might be a nice place to go visit if you just want to hang around and watch the river roll by and fish. Probably be better to take the ferry to Cumberland Island instead, and hang out there.

                      • The enlisted married guys love it. Since it is rural and cheap. Has great climate. Plus boomer life is so easy compared to fast attack.

                        • The law is silly. (Actually I was too bored to read the first post, but I'll grant you that.) But to generalize to some "war on education by the Repubs" is silly, Omar.
