Miriam would be proud of such relentless and brave fighters of the true belief.

Actually, the proposal is totally rediciosly and shooting itself in the foot. If I was a normal student, I would sue the hell out of any teacher that even mentioned religious based pseudoscience, or for that matter any student that tried to disturb the lessons with such crap.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

If they where just talking about PoliSci and a few other liberal arts courses wjere there is a lot of subjectivity, they MIGHT of had a point (Ward Churchill), but when they start complaining about biology proffs teaching students objective facts those right-wing nuts can go f*ck themselves.

That's where the real problem is. And even then, it should be dealt with through the school itself and not through the legislature!

You admit that there is subjectivity in Social Science yet you want it to be taught as though it were Biology?

Actually, I don't care if it's biology, legal, polisci, astronomy or art, religion has no place there.

There are a reason that some are called professors and some are called students - the first may be idiots, and there are ways to get rid of them through peer reviews if they are such. But it is idiotic to expect that the students know more about the subjects than the teacher.

He never said anything close to that.

Um.. religion kind of has a place in poly sci and legal studies. You know in all the policies and laws dealing with religious toleration and whatnot?

                    Black Cat,

Why do you say that religion shouldn't be taught at universities? How the hell are people going to learn about it?

I don't mind the religious tolerance part since I think it's a personal choice to believe or not, but I don't like that legislation is controlled by religion.

Actually I didn't - but to be precice - religion has only one place at a university, and that is at the theology faculty.

Um.. history? Political Science? Legal studies? Art (guess what most of the Western art from 1000-1600+ are about)?

Those that want to purge religion from the ciriculuum are delusional.

That's funny. In economic courses (at least in my uni experience), there's pretty much a consensus that neoliberal crap is "science", and it's taught as truth.

I've always criticized this crap, and I often discussed with classmates (especially the ones that are economically illiterate) to explain them that the contents were neither scientific nor true. And that's exactly the way it should be. In the field of economic Academia, this law would force professors to teach about Marxist and Keynesian economy as much as neoliberal economy. I'm not sure our self-righteous right-wingers are so eager about it

I think it's a bad idea to make rules like that. There's no harm in information at the college level. College students should be able to make judgements for themselves. If they can't college is a waste of time for them.
