From the looks of the trailer, a new, or at least partially original idea for a sci-fi thriller.

"Lincoln Six-Echo (McGregor) is a resident of a seemingly utopian but contained facility in the mid 21st century. Like all of the inhabitants of this carefully controlled environment, Lincoln hopes to be chosen to go to the "The Island" - reportedly the last uncontaminated spot on the planet. But Lincoln soon discovers that everything about his existence is a lie. He and all of the other inhabitants of the facility are actually human clones whose only purpose is to provide "spare parts" for their original human counterparts. Realizing it is only a matter of time before he is "harvested," Lincoln makes a daring escape with a beautiful fellow resident named Jordan Two-Delta (Johansson). Relentlessly pursued by the forces of the sinister institute that once housed them, Lincoln and Jordan engage in a race for their lives to literally meet their makers."

I'll see anything with Scarlett Johannson in it.

Partially original? I can hear the pitch already:

Director: "It's Logan's Run meets The Truman Show!"

Studio Exec: "I love it! Totally original, there has never been anything like it!"

In fairness though isn't it tough to actually do very much that is completely original??

True. I think it was Joseph Campbell who identified a mere 7 basic plots that form the vast majority of Western Literature.

Doesn't prevent me from giving Emp. Fab. a little bit of hell.

Sounds about right-- With movies, I've come to the point where I'm relieved to see that I haven't seen the very same movie (just with some changed actors) before

Frankly speaking, the whole mentality of the film looks like a ripoff from Brave New World.

I guess it'll have a very blatant "cloning is evil" moral teaching for us along the lines of many below-average late-90s action/scifi films; and also a 'romance' (ie. sex with "I love you"-crap) between the two main characters.

I hope I'm wrong, though. Time will tell.

If we're really lucky, it'll somehow manage to convey that cloning is not evil, but only treating the clones as sub-human is evil. Sounds fairly dull, anyway.

Funny you mention that. I clicked on the thread thinking it was about Huxley's Island, the utopian companion to BNW, for those unfamiliar with it.
