Not even that. If there was majority medical opinion in favor of keeping her going in hopes of rehabilitation, I'd say give it a shot. If she hadn't spent 15 years in her vegetative state with no improvement, I'd say give it more time.

But enough is enough. She's never improved, and the overwhelming medical consensus is that she will never improve. There has to come a point where people stop living in denial and let this poor woman die in peace.

          • /me decides to discuss something interesting

Why is Congress trying to pointlessly tamper with State's rights over something so trivial? It's one thing for a state legistlature to inject itself into this sad affair but it is quite disturbing (to me at least) for Congress to throw out any pretense of Federalism to do so.

              • Good point DD.

IMHO, it's either one of two things.... or both...

                1. the GOP wants to rally it's base around something

                2. they want to distract the public from real issues like SS privatization
To us, it is the BEAST.

/me points to his first post in this thread.

All this is is a way for the GOP to stir up their base.

                    • Tom DeLay has taken up the cause to divert attention away from his ethical lapses. He's been ducking the media for weeks, but now he's come leaping out gleefully in the Schiavo case because he can use it to take the spotlight off of his shameful misconduct.

Baseball makes for a more entertaining past time for lawmakers desiring to avoid dealing with Social Security.

yeah, but the Schiavo case gets the base riled up against the EVIL LIBERALS...

with baseball, the parties are united... they don't want unity or bipartisanship

The unity is that no one wants to deal with SS, Sava. They might as well not deal with it together.

nah, the free market right wingers want it gone... but I think they realized that they don't have a shot at it and want people to forget they even mentioned it.
