        Soooo...in 1985, I got a 1400, 650 Math, 750 Verbal.

That, all by itself (because there's no way it could have been anything else), was enough to get me into Rutgers.

Which I goofed through for most of a decade with a C average.

Your experience is similar to mine. My high school GPA was 2.6, which includes a fair number of gym classes where I got 4.0s. It also includes me purposefully failing 1 class every semester by not attending it as the credits weren't needed to graduate. I took the SAT in late 1978 or early 1979 and scored in the low 1400s. My math score surprised me, as my math education ended with my d+ in geometry. Thank god for multiple choice, as I would have stood no chance without being able to work out the problems backwards from the answers. I got into Michigan State University, and after I took the entrance exams there I was offered a spot in their honors college!

Nope. I was honest about it. Totally honest.

1280. Can't recall what the various section grades were.

1490 the time it counted. 700 something in both sections, thought my math was a bit better than Verbal.

I took a couple of SAT 2's, but I have no recollection of the scores.

I had a very good average in a good High school, so I doubt the SAT score was central to my getting into college.
