  • Any trekkers?

Well well.. I've been thinking for a while now, that since my next trip will be to Japan, date unknown because no money, I was thinking why not go see more. I don't want to go to Europe. I've seen Europe. **** I live in Europe. I've seen west. I know what the people are like in here. THey're all the same! You know, explore the world with me own eyes until it's too late, meaning I wouldn't go anymore, or have realistic opportunity to do that.

I'm definitely NOT interested in seeing 'oh you put jelly on your toast!!! CRAZY FOREIGN CUSTOMS!' type of cultural mindblowers. No... I want to go to the east.. to India, to Thailand, to Singapore, to that overall region. Travel by train, by bus, by car, by bike, what ever. Eat weird stuff. Meet people, talk to them. Just go into places off of the tourist map. Get myself in trouble. Kill few natives maybe even. Get high on stuff never discovered by western junkies. Attend to local celebrations if permitted. Learn about their history and cultures. Maybe even philosophies if I can get a book in english and the boat/train/etc is taking long. Get myself secure with the unreasonable phobia of some insects, spiders etc. Swim, dive.. all that good stuff. Sweat a lot, drinking bottled water (this is something no one does in here, clean water). Have at least few cases of nasty diarrhea, learn how to wash me bum with local ways. See the most beautiful sunsets in the world, avoid the nazi police and military, make few lifelong friends with few other same spirited trekkers (capitalists who are poor and learning the world before getting rich so they can enjoy it even more) .

Anyone ever done that? I mean really done it, few weeks in some backtracks doesn't count, even though it's cool too.. or trip to Europe doesn't count either.

Any good websites about this subject?

I'll admit, I fell for the title...

But no, I'm not a trekker in either sense of the word.

Son of Croatian president of parliament (Sabor) got killed yesterday in India. 25 year old philosophy student was there with his friends, taking it easy in the Goa area, working as a DJ.

He was going with a motorcycle to a nearby village to DJ a trance party when he got intercepted by ?? (bandits?), mugged (500 Euros he recently got from Europe) and killed. The details are not known yet. His parents are flying over to identify the body.

Take care Pekka. You want to meet the locals, but they might want your 500 euros.

On a more cheerful side, my own dream is to go to Vladivostok via the transsiberian rail, using local lines. Hopping from station to station, stay longer if girls are particularly hot in some area or I just like the neighbourhood.

Russia is more or less orderly country so it isn't even dangerous. I also hear local trains are cheeeap. I'll do it sooner or latter but don't know when yet.

Japan is one of the safest countries I've ever been to and Korea is near the top as well. There were tons of drunk foreigners wondering around the streets of Seoul at all hours of the night with a few even passed out on the side walks. We'd laugh at the drunken idiots and keep walking while Koreans would call a taxi to help them get home. I'd do that for a friend or even an acquaintance but not for some 40 year old drunk stranger laying in the gutter.

VetLegion, that's too bad. Then again, that could happen right when I step out of my door, and I bet it's more likely to happen to me in here than in there. And I would never carry that much money with me at once if avoidable. But then again, too bad it happened, there are just some things you never have any control over. Then again I would have picked up a stone and killed them all and then snuffed a cow for it too, as a disrespectful move to the bandits.

I'm not really worried about my safety. I manage just well, and if I can't, then it was supposed to be that way I guess. To limit my ways is to limit my freedom, and if I never allow that to be done by a bastard politician, why would anyone in their right minds think I would let that be done by a PUNK? Basically, what happens, happens, I will go and let the card fall as they may. 99% certainty nothing happens to me and I'll have a great time.

Of course some measurements can be taken if one is .. reserved for their surroundings. In case I'll be robbed, I'll give my money which won't be much but I won't fight over it. If bandits starts to mistreat me, I will dig their eyes out and crunch their testicles and I don't give a **** how good they are at muay thai. I know muay thai too, but they can't handle me crushing testicles move and I guarantee it's either them or me. Maybe me, but I'll take few down with me.

Why did this turn into violence thread, this is about trekking. And none of you roblors have yet signed up for 'yes I did that!'. No links, nothing. What is this.. a loser board???
