I'm doing an assignment on brand names right now for Marketing class.

Did you guys know that the company that makes Kotex makes Kleenex. Kotex came out first. Then they came up with the name Kleenex for facial tissues. They just took the 'ex' from Kotex and added it to 'clean' to make Kleenex. Does anyone think of Kotex when they hear the word Kleenex?

From everything that I've read here (from Che, if not from Kid), marketing is the antithesis of everything Communist and is one of the biggest sins/weapons of the Capitalist society... IIRC, the reasoning goes that marketing generates a false desire for non-essential goods and blah, blah, blah, which creates an unsustainable consumerist society which will collapse blah, blah, blah, & etc.

Perhaps we oughtta devise a marketing plan for Communism. That last one didn't work out too well. Good market penetration, but that was obviated by an inability to hold long-term interest, especially as more-attractive alternatives became more widely known.
