I recall once seeing a photograph of Steve Tyler doing his sub-Jagger schtick in 'The Melody Maker ' in the 70s.

Take a look at the snopes page again. The supposed "shadows" of the lens caps aren't the lens caps--you can see in the pic with the lens caps removed that the position they are in means that they couldn't be making any such shadows.Originally posted by Oerdin
If you were then you'd have noticed the shadows the lens covers cast on Bush's arms. They photoshopped the lens covers but forgot to remove the shadows of where they were.
The snopes explanation is the most likely--Bush put the binoculars to his eyes, saw they were covered and removed the lens covers. A photographer happened to snap a shot when he had them up.
No big deal, but still amusing.
