becasue that is what this group does not like. I am a dirty old man and I like sex on the TV, and am truly cranky about not getting more of it, even on cable. But being opposed to their agenda does not make me see anything sinister in there tactics. They are well oganized with good internal communication and a very good educational and logistical support process for filing their complaints, loggying, and other forms of advocacy. I would love to work with an organiztion like that on one of my issues. F*** them all for being prudes, but not for being skilled advocates.

Considering they are in a business I can't see why you would be all that surprised that they focus on money. That or I totally missed your sarcasm.

99.8% is not just a "wow, they are concerned" instead it is "this guys are nut cases who cry wolf". They should simply ignore every complant from this group just as cops ignore certain trouble makers.

          My letter to their editor:

          To the Parents Television Council,

I'd like to know why you ****ing retards make 99.8% of all TV complaints to the FCC. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that if you don't like what is on TV then you turn the TV off, however, you insist on driving up my taxes with your frivolous and baseless claims of indecency. Please do us all a favor and learn to read more or play sports with your kids instead of stupidly whining about everything you see on TV. I realize I am likely wasting my time and like all zealots you will continue regardless of any logic or reasoning against you. I still felt that with all the complaining you do that you deserved to hear a complaint from me.

They're here to make money indeed. And when then recieve more than one million complaints from "concerned parents" that are seemingly unconnected to each other, they believe they are offending large swathes of the US population. Thus, losing significant amounts of money.

When it turns out that it is actually an activist group (and the members of the group are encouraged to write about their outrage as much as possible = nonspontaneous participation), it shows that these programs don't offend the population at large. But that has just been discovered.

So their main complaint with "saving private ryan" was the explicit use of the f-word ?

not all the blood and body parts flying around ?

let me guess, 99% of those parents live in the bible belt.

Yep. Count me in. We need genuine reality television.
Imagine how boooorrrriiiiinnnnngggggg that would be. Like watching 'Big Brother' contestants sleeping.

                MMMMmmmmm, that's so edifying.

yep. Basically, it's a bunch of wackos who think the only proper thing to do in one's free time is to read the bible, pray, and watch Jerry Falwell and Pat Robinson on TV.

Effective advocacy is just fine, but only for your side of any issue. What a god-damned hypocrit.
                        Oh, the coot got cranky.

If an issue is so important to the public, then you would think there would be more groups on the issue (OH, and since when did ending abortion become s pet issue of mine? All that smut must have been clouding your old man brain). When one single group basically IS the voice of "outraged America", it should be a dead giveaway to anyone that it is in fact in no way representative of public opinion.

What is trully funny is how the site for this group takes all the clips it finds most offensive on TV and catalogues them, allowing everyne who is just "outraged, outraged!!!" to see, over and over and over again that evil evil smut that must be kept from our children. INterestingly enough though, all children really have to do is go to their site to get all the "smut" they could possibly want
