I find it funny that people who are posting on a message board are using lack of time as an excuse
My advice: sign up in several leagues, one of your teams is bound to get lucky. That way you at least give yourself a better shot to still be interested by August. Of course you don't abandon your other team(s) but you only need to worry about replacing injuries or the real dogs. Which is what you'll be doing if your team does poorly anyway. The only really time commitment is during the draft and it's not like there are any sports worth watching till March Madness.
My Prefs (in order of importance)
1) Head to Head
2) Yes to Pitchers (Ks, IP, BB, HR), Batters (TB, R, BB, SB, CS, Ks, GIDP)
3) Yes to Assist, Putouts, Errors, Pitchers(ER, H)
4) No to (W,L,S,H, RBIs)
All of the above are sugestions, and except for the first one, I really don't care that much, and I am flexible on the first one. In fact I really haven't put any thought into balancing since I haven't managed to convince anyone to go with a DIPS leagueAccidently left my signature in this post.

Again, nothing wrong with just a 14 team league
Don't have time for two leagues. Just one will be fairly hard to do for part of the time actually."Yay Apoc!!!!!!!" - bipolarbear
"At least there were some thoughts went into Apocalypse." - Urban Ranger
"Apocalype was a great game." - DrSpike
"In Apoc, I had one soldier who lasted through the entire game... was pretty cool. I like apoc for that reason, the soldiers are a bit more 'personal'." - General Ludd

Imran hasn't chimed in yet but he did say earlier he would be in so we have the following confirmed:
Berzerker
Stuie
GjRamsey
Moral Hazard
Tuberski
Imran (?)
Jdd (?) I seem to recall him showing interest
Guy, EmpFab, LoA and Apoc are out so that leaves 10 people possible.
How many people are interested / currently signed up? If you need more I can probably get some.
hitting
hits
runs
HR
RBI
Avg
OBS
Slugging
stolen bases
fielding %
optional
total bases instead of slugging and/or OBS (we might end up using both slugging and OBS just to make sure we have 1 more hitting category than pitching)
I'd like to drop total bases and go with doubles and triples
but some people may not like that.
pitching
wins
losses
saves
walks
Ks
total bases
whip
era
optional
holds
Also, instead of trying to deter the reliever strategy by balancing pitching categories, I suggest we just go with a fairly high minimum IP per week - maybe 18-22 for weekly changes and a bit higher if we go with daily. With weekly changes a minimum IP per week is a pretty good obstacle, with daily someone could just keep adding a SP at the end of the week if they are falling short of the minimum.
I guess the big question is whether we go with daily or weekly changes. I lean toward daily but it isnt a biggie for me...

You're allowed 4 teams per sign in, last year I over did it and had 12 teams divided up on 3 yahoo identities. Wrt live draft, we could do that but its hard getting everyone free for the 2-3 hours it would take. If we have 8 people we should still have enough time to do the draft normally even though I was hoping to have more bench spots than the 4 Imran has. But if it comes down to it, we could all try to set up one evening and do the draft live. Hell, I did several auto drafts last year and had no big problem with the results, but a more hands on draft is fun.
Berzerker
Stuie
GjRamsey
Moral Hazard
Tuberski
Vlad
Imran (?)
Jdd (?) I seem to recall him showing interest
Thats 6 confirmed with 2 more who already gave a green light earlier and are gung ho enough to make good on it.
I still would like people to post their prefs, especially daily or weekly. Weekly will be the default with daily requiring everyone's consent. So far no one has said they cant do a daily league.
Btw Tuber, yahoo allows people to set their rosters up to 3 or even 4 days in advance in daily leagues so you wouldn't have to set your roster each day. The only problem is starting pitchers occasionally get their start pushed up or back a day so I got in the habit of checking each day after I set my roster 3-4 days in advance just to make sure no injury or rescheduling/rainout problems pooped up. But I figure checking in every other day will suffice...
Keep joining up people

I just setup an H2H team in another league, and I didn't realize it's n x n league rather than points based. So obviously my prefs wouldn't work at all.
That's what I get for not playing any fantasy baseball last year, and using ESPN (a free and pay league) the year before.
Anyhow, are we looking for 2 more now? Would it be daily or weekly? I prefer daily, because I've never tried it before, but I'm very flexible on that. However, I'd like to know though before I ask. I wait for tommorow to see if Imran or JDD confirm.
Tubes prefers Weekly. Me and Berzerker prefer daily; anyone have a strong opinion on it.
About the Categories; I agree that one more hitting than pitching should work well. I'm a little confused though is OBS = OBP or OPS or something else?Accidently left my signature in this post.

Oops, I get them confused too. OBP is on base % and OBS is on base % and slugging I think. Yes, this is H2H. Tuber said he will play a daily so we're still on course to make this a daily league. Imran shouldn't mind since he's in a daily at FFZ and he knew my league would be daily when he said he would play earlier. I think Jdd is flexible on that so I think we have 8 people willing to try a daily league. But if you can find a couple more people thats fine...
Tell them it will most likely be daily but we may go with weekly if we cant get enough people to play the daily league. I'd like to have at least 8 people just because I figure thats the minimum others would want. I played a 6 man league last year and it was a blast. The talent on each team, especially minewas just amazing. For most of the season I had like 6 out of the top 12 players in baseball.

OBP is on base % and OBS is on base % and slugging I think.
Ah yes, the baseball sim I sometimes play calls it OPS. I'd rather have OBP and Slugging as categories. Gives the walk machines some credit and doesn't overbalance the power hitters too much, they already get HRs. Of course most good power hitters have high OBP as well. I'd actually prefer 8 teams. Because the other drafting league Im in will have 16 or 18 teams. So if JDD and Imran are in I'll look no further, not to dissuade anyone who sees this from signing up of course.Last edited by Moral Hazard; March 2, 2005, 23:24.Accidently left my signature in this post.

Just so people know - you don't have to update your roster daily. You can edit lineups for days (maybe even weeks - can't remember) in advance."Stuie has the right idea" - Japher
"I trust Stuie and all involved." - SlowwHand
"Stuie is right...." - Guynemer
