I was waiting for someone on his jack strap to take credit for it though.
          Sure.

But Bush is the one who has placed the most pressure on the Syrians, and caused other allies to do the same. The Lebanese people were the ones to praise for forcing their syrian puppet gov't to resign.

This is a victory for Bush policy nonetheless in the middle east.

Looks like Hezbollah has staged a counterprotest (on behalf of the Syrian occupation). Estimates go from hundreds of thousands (out of a population of ~4 million) to holy ****, that's a huge protest.

                          From BBC:

I've been trying to find out how many seats in the Lebanese Parliament Hezbollah have. I could only determine that they are the largest single party. Anyone happen to know?

It'd also be interesting to see whether the Christains will stay over-represented. In the Constitution, they're mandated to having 50% of Parliament (despite being 20-25% of the population). If Lebanon is democratized, the Hezbollah would be big winners since the Shia are the largest plurality in the country (~40%).

Come to think of it, the situation is a lot like Iraq. In both cases, the Shia, the largest sectarian group, are backing an occupying power that the former/current rulers are strongly opposed to. Then you have fascist influences among both Saddam's Ba'ath and the Maronites' Phalange.
