Please help my pathetic self run alien crossfire....

Spent hours.... NOTHING is working, hell I don't even know if this is because I have XP but I think it is... when I run the shortcut and select the original game it runs fine, when I run the expansion, the program closes, no loading, no error, no hang up, NOTHING, it simply closes... HELP!

I of course scanned the entire board before I posted.... nothing there to help me.

I'll try the 5.0 patch, 1 moment.


Edit: Unless I am missing something, there is no 5.0 patch....

My .ini file is empty.

After running the original game.... it is not now.

On second, trying that.

set force oldvortexalgorithm to 1 or whatever it is in the alphawhatever.ini file

Are you getting the processor not supported error? If so that will fix it.

I am getting !NO! error, simply when I click on crossfire, the launcher closes and nothing happens... everything else on my comp continues as if I never opened it.

I can run the original game fine though.

The launcher? Are you opening the actually terranx.exe file or that other stupid thing that lets you choose the version you want?

That stupid thing which lets me choose the version.... When I try to run terranx it says "C:/Program Files\Firaxes Games\Sid Meire's Alpha Centauri\Terranx.exe is not a valid win32 application."

I did not know that was not normal heh.

However reinstalling has not fixed it.

I used a no cd crack.... I don't know why but the executable just would NOT work, so I downloaded a no cd crack, it worked fine.

I always use no Cd cracks for my games, because CD keys are just annoying.

I just hate switching CD's. I play many different games.

Lately I've been playing Morrowind GOTY edition, KOTOR 2, and SMAC expansion.

but I haven't been able to find no cd patches for morrowind and kotor 2. but I do have one for smacx.
