Sunday Morning is the day Washington talks to America. Various politician do the rounds, talking about policy, politics, etc. This is frequently the time that the Administration will float policy balloons, various Congressmen will try to be seen, etc.

Since the election, I've noticed a disturbing trend. Many of the major talk shows feature the same person on the same day at the same time. Two weeks ago, everyone was interviewing Rumsefield. Last week it was Dr. Rice. This week, two stations were interviewing Sen. Clinton (I didn't check Tim Russert's show).

What the hell? Has Washington discourse fallen so in line behind the Prez that no one has anything else to say? Is the Prez so determined to be on message that they only allow one of their people to talk at a time? Does anyone else find this a little disturbing?

I think that the president only allows one person at a time, it provides for consistency of vision- I think Karl Rove is behind it.

Personally, I think it's disturbing, but there's no law against it since they're cabinet and can be dismissed at will.

Sounds like normal PR tactics to me... If the networks don't like what's being shoveled up, there are other people not in the administration they can get.

I'm not complaining so much about the Administration as the networks themselves. If I don't want to watch Rummy lie, I'd like to be able to turn to one of the other programs and see some other talking head. But no, I can't.

chegitz- that's, as Ming states, the network's fault- not bush's...

adn teh government network- PBS continues to be the most unbiased source in the world. So there's little reason to be up in arms about it.

Pehraps a bit worried, but there's nothing legally wrong with this.

I don't care whether the source is corporate or government. The result is the same. We need diversity of opinion, not the same guy on all stations. Just cuz the source of "censorship" isn't the government doesn't mean it's not a bad thing.

And as I mentioned, this week it was Senator Clinton on at least two channels. She's certainly not part of the Adminsitration.

The networks think that getting an admin. person will mean a bigger "scoop" and higher ratings, and the admin. exploits this by making the same single person available for saturation.

This admin. has been masterfull in its control of message and manipulation of news.
