The critics have not been kind to the film, specially those from bigger outfits, but I think most people who go watch this film aren't interested in anything more than good effects and good actions, as long as the actors don't suck utterly. All the acting is good (for the roles they have to play), the effects are good, and the action is OK, so all in all, people are satisfied.
I want more than special effects. I want a good story. I'm okay if there is no character development in these types of movies, but if the story is crap, the movie is crap.
There is nothing wrong with these films based on mythology, because let's face it, that is all religion (in this particular example, Christianity) is...

Anyone here fans of the comic? If so are there any trade paperbacks you'd recommend?
I happen to own the first 30 or so...
One of the Hellblazer collections is basically a reprint of the first issues, all of which are excellent IMO.
My favourite is issue #3 which is a pisstake of Thatcher's Britain called 'Yuppies from Hell'...
From what I've seen of the trailers, Hellblazer has basically been raped for an American audience by turning him American and setting him in LA amongst other things, which also means the plot is likely to be pretty dumb too...
Still, the trailer did look pretty impressive and so long as its a decent popcorn actioner I'll be pretty happy...
It's a decent action movie, Moby. It definately doesn't suck LXG style.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio
Because even if we don't believe, the cosmology is obviously an important aspect of Western culture. We don't care if she never reads the Bible (though she should, for cultural knowledge) but, as our daughter, she will read Paradise Lost, and she's never going to understand what's going on there without some background.
