      They could either accept a cheque for between $15 and $35 tomorrow or one for $50-$75 at a variable point in the future.

                People are violent so they shoot other people, you take away thier guns so instead they stab people (prison is a good example of this), you take away thier knives so they beat people, you take away thier bats and tire irons so they beat people with thier fists and feet, you amputate every limb at birth so they spit at each other, you take away thier salivary glands so they shout and each other, you take out thier vocal cords at birth so they stare meanly at each other, you take out thier eyes so they become telepathic and can see stuff and levitate and move stuff with thier minds and pretty soon Jedis are reality and then we all have lightsabers and we live happily ever after.

                So as you can see Im all for taking away guns, it means we get lightsabers!!!!

                  Copper is also toxic (though rarely fatal or serious). Some countries are already moving to use of bismuth for shotgun pellets and perhaps bullets in the near future. Bismide is the buffering agent in Pepto-Bismal.

                        The former primary sources of childhood lead exposure, house paint and gasoline fumes have been reduced for over 35 years. One would think that there would have been a more dramatic decline in violent crime by now. OTOH in Europe many older buildings have lead based roofing, which surely must be a source of lead exposure.

                        Oh, and then there is the copious supply of lead spread around Europe by various military organizations over the past four centuries.
