Any way to turn off sound with Firefox?

The ads on some other sites are so annoying. I've looked, but can't find where you turn the sound off in Firefox. Is it possible to disable sounds in Firefox so I don't get bombarded with annoying flash ads?

To us, it is the BEAST.

I just use adblock.
