  • Wireless' Manifest Destiny

    From slashdot

"According to an article on WiMaxTrends, the metropolitan area wireless networking technology (MLAN) called WiMax could reach 90% of the mainland US population if about $3 billion was spent on infrastructure. The 802.16 standard specifies a max range of about 30 miles and a max speed of about 70 Mbits/sec, but typical ranges and speeds will typically be smaller. 802.16/WiMax specifies various licensed (3.5Ghz) and unlicensed (5Ghz) frequency ranges but the unlicensed ranges have Wi-Fi like transmitting power restrictions."

    This would be pretty cool.

Just what we need, microwaves all over our home.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

just set dinner on the counter straight from the freezer and wham! Dinner. Nothin' like a wireless oven.

Whoda thunk that WiMAX Trends would say that WiMax would be the next great solution?

I'm posting this via a DSL connection of my friend, who lives in a nearby building and is probably asleep . We are connected with a 802.11g wireless protocol and it is great. In the vicinity, there are dozens such networks, and the city is covered with many more, some interconnected.

              Wireless is great.
