Ehm, Boris... Read the article again and try to use your brain this time. Then you may actually understand why they were surprised by the results

        So read this: http://www.rednova.com/news/display/?id=126649#121
the human brain makes patterns where there are none.
00000000000000000000000000000000 is just as random as 101011111111111111000010101011101011.

As I understand it, the machine might tell us that something will happen, but not exactly what. Blind predictions... Great work guys!

I dunno. You could find a lot of Darwin's stuff, Einstein's stuff, the Miller-Urey experiment, and the Michaelson-Morley experiement on the Web.

So far, there's nothing on this Dr John Hartwell except this one article. It smells rotten.

Maybe this would be more interesting:

Obviously the writers of the article have a vested interest in making the project look credible. Because if it's not a credible project, then they're just writing an article about crackpots.

FWIW, this looks a lot like the original "bible code" research conducted in Israel. Namely, they both tried to find out patterns to fit events that have already happened, and no controls were (are) used.

Exactly the point I was going to make. They know they are about to be shown something, so why wouldn't the brain have an increase in activity over such anticipation? What a ridiculous "experiment," if indeed the claim is even true (many claims of such things are just outright falsehoods, esp. ones that are claimed to have been made so long ago).
Presumably they would be smart enough to at least make the pictures flash at random intervals so you can't anticipate as well.

Presumably they would be smart enough to at least mix these pictures randomly with non-provocative pictures so you can't anticipate what kind of picture that will be next

Presumably they would be smart enough to at least "randomize" the pictures enough that images of the Virgin Mary start to appear...
