Super Bowl Telecast Still Draws Protests
Despite complaints that Sunday's Super Bowl halftime show was bland and forgettable, the FCC received 33 complaints Monday from viewers who either objected to Paul McCartney's rendition of "Get Back," which contains a reference to "California grass," or were upset by the content of some commercials. Those who complained about the ads deprecated one for GoDaddy.com, featuring a young woman who almost bares a breast; ads for erectile dysfunction medication; and a scene in a spot featuring one member of the Queer Eye For the Straight Guy crew ogling a man.

Man, what is wrong with these puritanical morons? Can they ever just shut their ****ing mouths?

OH NO PAUL MCCARTNEY MADE A REFERENCE TO MARIJUANA

    OH NO ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION MEDICATION!!!

these people should just stop watching TV if they don't like what's on...

yeah I read the article about im using California Grass. Fox was hoping people missed that line. I know I did, I hardly pay attention to lyrics anyways.

I admit, I was surprised at that godaddy.com commercial. I was not expecting that after last year.

Here's a tid bit. That commercial was supposed to air after the 2 minute warning in the 4th quarter. But Fox pulled it. Rumour has it that the NFL called, and requested they not air the ad again.

i didn't like the godaddy.com commercial. once again, it's a case where the ads make me dislike a company (i.e., quizno's ads).

why? not because of the content, but because of the dumb premise, low production values, and stupid dialogue. it's way too reminiscent of the ****ty ads we saw during the dot com bubble.

shame, too, because i used to like godaddy.com ...

Everything this year was so bland as to be pathetic. Those mentioned in the OP are so silly as to hardly be worthy of comment.

Oh and I liked the GoDaddy commercial precisely BECAUSE it poked fun at the censorship .

I also heard that there was a beer commercial that poked fun at last year's wardrobe malfunction-- Now that might have been fun but apparently they wouldn't air it.

i didn't mind that it poked fun at the censorship, but if you're going to do that, do it with class and money, not with an ad that looked like it was filmed in mom's basement.

seriously, ads have gone downhill recently in quality, partly due to the censorship, but it seems as if the deathblow occured during the dotcom bubble. i cannot tell you how irritated i am every time i hear some inet company use a banjo twang (i.e, yahoo, expedia) in their jingle.

on the other hand, i did like the fedex kinko's ad, even if it was wayyyyyy too self-aware.

The one with Burt Reynolds and the Bear really disturbed me. I haven't had a good nights sleep since I saw that... I should write in.

I love how now almost baring a breast is too much. What's next - complaining that women have breasts?

But that's not too bad.. 33 complaints.. I don't care how boring it really was, that's not a lot of complaints. There's always complaints no matter how clean the show is.

After last year, I'd've been surprised if there would have been zero complaints. Some people were surely tuning in just to find something to complain about.

Exactly. Why are people so scarred of kids seeing breasts? Why this irrational fear of kids getting "scarred for life"? This crap is just a relic of Victorian puritanicalism.
