Is there a reason why new players always get 2500 free turns, regardless of when they join? It seems quite unfair for a player who starts after a week or two to only get 2500 turns when they have to fight against other players who may have had 10000 turns.
It occurs to me that it would be more fair to let the number of turns you get on starting depend on how long the game had been running - someone who starts as the game starts would get 2500, but another who starts after a week might get 5000 (or however many they would be owed for 7 days play).
The early starters would still get an advantage in that they get first choice of planets and trade routes, and the later ones would not be penalised for their late start.
