  • Ok guys....

Am I the only one playing in Aeturneus' War of the Worlds Trade Wars game?!?

The universe is awfully quiet and lonely...

Man, Wittlich is really desperate for a game; he's even playing the practice game on Aeturneus's server pretty consistently, it looks like, even tho he's basically alone in there

Sorry I've dropped off the face of the planet, everyone. I really do plan on serving another game sometime; I'd hate to think I wasted almost a hundred bucks on something I used once

Real life is such a pain, isn't it?

Yep, nobody wants to play with me...so I guess I will just play with myself...

            Ouch

I see you learned about blind warping the hard way, huh?

heh yeah, that hurt then I tried to leave a fighter there instead...

The only comfort is that I had enough money to buy a new ship so Im not out of the game yet. I realise I dont have any chanse of winning but I might be able to offer some resistance the next game.

btw what is the fastest way to popualte your planet? twarping hasnt done me much good yet

Actually, getting commissioned and buying an ISS with transwarp capability is the way I always go (you need to be of a GOOD allignment - have 500 or more positive allignment points and apply for the commission at the police station at Stardock, then purchase the ISS).

You can also purchase a "colonial transport" - with this ship you can transport alot of colonists, but it also wastes alot of turns.

Oh, and sorry about you running into my mines - buy a holographic scanner for your ship so that you can "look" into the next sector prior to you just jumping in. You could buy a density scanner instead, but then you would also need to understand the different density readouts...I prefer the holographic scanner.

My problem is that I dont know how to get my alignment up to 500. I tried tracking down some aliens to kill but didnt find a single one (wasted a few hundred turns with a scout ship)
Right now Im using a corporate flagship to colonize, its ok but it would go more than twice as fast with an ISS.

Is there any way you can warp directly to terra? or do you have to deploy a fighter in the next sector, warp there and then move "manually" to terra?

That's where a commission comes in. Only commissioned (>1000 align) traders can transwarp to Fedspace beacons.

You get +1 alignment for every 1000 credits you post on evil traders as bounties in the police station. The easiest and cheapest way to get a commission is to post 500k, then apply for the other 500 alignment, and voila, free warps right to Fedspace sectors.

Wohoo, I finally got my ISS

I have some new questions tho. Is it possible to destroy planets without getting navhaz? Because if its not, I would rather have crappy planets than navhaz in my home sector. (better to ask than to risk screwing up) <- learned that when I was experimenting with the warp engine.

Is it possible to sell shields and fighters?

                        1) Destroying planets creates 10% navhaz per planet destroyed.

                        2) Creating a planet reduces the navhaz in the current sector by 10%.

So feel free to destroy/recreate planets to get good types, just release a gentorp right after using each detonator and you're set.

Also, you're clear to transwarp to any sector with a friendly fighter (or Fedspace if your alignment is 1000 or better). NavHaz won't cause a fuse unless there's no sector "beacon" (fig). Basically, if density scanning a sector comes out non-zero and it doesn't contain a corporate or personal fighter, you'll fuse on transwarp into that sector. To be safe, just always answer no if it asks if you want to blind warp instead of saying beacon locked (though once you're comfortable with the game, an occassional very careful known safe blind warp can save precious turns).

Is it possible to sell shields and fighters?
Not directly, only by selling a ship with the shields/figs on it. And the more ports/kills your ship has (on the I screen), the more it's discounted on trade-in (a particularly old ship will glean a message from the ship trader of the sort, "Well, I guess we can give it to the Ferrengi for target practice!"), so never ever sell an old ship with fighters onboard (drop them off next to Stardock first and pick them up later). If you're really strapped for cash and want to sell figs, drop the figs off by stardock, buy a new Battleship (or the cheapest thing you can find that'll hold the # of figs you want to sell), transport into the Bship, go get the figs, go back to SD, transport back into your original ship, and port and sell the Bship... that'll sell the figs off a 0 port 0 kill ship and get you maximum value, but you'll still never get more than 100 credits per fig or so, much less than they're worth, so that'd be a last resort maneuver if you need the cash for something.
